Our Story
Sibu Thomson Corner started as a small family business in Bukit Assek selling shaved red bean ice in 1993 December. With its genuine service and quality food, it quickly won over customers’ heart and became a local favorite meeting place. As the business continued to grow, we relocated to the current Pedada outlet and Medan Mall outlet in 2005. In 2017, three of Thomson Corner’s dishes were listed among the “11 Must Try Local Delicacies @ Sibu” by the Heartland of Borneo – Visit Sibu 2017 tourism advertisement.
Despite many offers to join franchise, Thomson Corner has remained a family own business to date. The owner insists that all the food must be made in one central kitchen at home using her own tested recipe in order to strictly control quality and deliver original flavour to customers. Thomson Corner offers Sawarak delights such as Sarawak laksa, kampua mee, kompia, chendol, and a variety of Malaysian desserts.
Today, Thomson Corner is a place where families and friends come together, where conversations happen, where relationships are bonded. The employees are treated like family members, and good relationships among the staffs is evident, it is intentionally built through the love and care from the owner who sees a higher value in caring for people’s lives and not just merely making profits.

What our customers say about us
“A trip to Sibu is incomplete without a trip to Thomson corner! Love every dish that we ordered: best Sarawak laksa ever that you don’t have to wake up at 6am to try! Love their rojak and sotong kangkung as well & definitely the best kompia that could be found in the world! The kampua is also good & my partner had 2 servings!!”
